Detroit Bird Alliance is a chapter of the National Audubon Society that serves more than 6,000 members in southeast Michigan. Contributions of $30 or more to Detroit Bird Alliance qualify you for an annual Chapter Membership for your entire household.

  • Yes! The biggest benefit of your membership is the knowledge that you are directly supporting local birds and their habitats. Detroit’s unique geographic position, where two migratory flyways converge, comes with unique responsibilities. Members have voting rights. You will also receive priority access  and discounts to classes and special events, two print newsletters. See a full list of benefits and membership levels here.

    • Your annual membership expires one year from the date of your membership payment, regardless of your membership level. We’ll send you reminders when your membership is about to expire, so you can easily stay active. If you are a Frequent Flyer (recurring member), your membership remains active as long as you continue making your monthly payments. How do I renew my membership?

  • As a member of National Audubon, you’ll receive our e newsletter so you can read about the great work our chapter is doing in southeast Michigan. Your National Audubon membership dues contribute about $3 to Detroit Bird Alliance.  However, you don’t receive all of the same membership benefits as our local members.
    DBA Chapter members are protecting birds right here in southeast Michigan. Every dollar of your local membership dues goes directly to local bird conservation.


  • Yes! Detroit Bird Alliance is a chapter of National Audubon, but we are entirely separate organizations with different 501c3s.
