Gift and Estate Planning Options

Thank you for considering making Detroit Bird Alliance a recipient of your Planned Giving.

A known, consistent source of funding goes a long way to help us plan our education and conservation efforts, as well as help us develop the best strategies for engaging others in the joy of learning about and advocating for birds.

Please contact us if you have any questions about the options outlined below at 313-588-1015.

  • If you are planning for a charitable tax deduction but are undecided about making specific distributions, consider opening a Donor Advised Fund.

The minimum gift for a Donor Advised Fund is $1,000. For more info, contact 313-588-1015.

  • To transfer securities electronically from a brokerage account, you will need the following information:

    Fidelity

    Detroit Bird Alliance 501 (c) (3) Tax ID#: 38-6004962

On the date of transfer, call (313) 588-1015, or email the information to staff@detroitaudubon.org.

    Send all correspondence to:

    Detroit Bird Alliance
    4840 Mount Elliott St.
    Detroit, MI 482207

  • Individuals aged 70 ½ or older may contribute up to $100,000 per year directly from an IRA to a qualified charitable organization, such as Detroit Audubon. This gift does not result in an upfront income tax deduction but does fulfill some or all of any required minimum distribution without increasing taxable income.

When transmitting your QCD, please include your name and address on the check, wire transfer or corresponding documentation. Checks should be made payable to Detroit Bird Alliance, 501 (c) (3) Tax ID#: 38-6004962. Please mail your check to Detroit Audubon, Attn. Member and Donor Relations, 4840 Mount Elliott St. Detroit, MI 49207.

  • If you work for, or are retired from, a company with a matching gift program, your gift may be eligible for a match. Your Human Resources (HR) Department may have a list of matching organizations.

  • If you wish to explore this practical method of supporting Detroit Bird Alliance, you can receive a beneficial charitable contribution deduction in the year of transfer. To discuss this option, please contact us.

  • Our member and donor relations assistant is ready to assist you in exploring the many tax-wise options available for supporting Detroit Bird Alliance’s mission, such charitable remainder unitrusts (CRUT), charitable remainder annuity trusts (CRAT), and gift annuities. To discuss this option, please contact us at 313-588-1015.
